The G36 Fixed Wireless Terminal has a built-in web site which allows you to configure the unit from a PC connected via the USB cable. Before you can do this, however, you first need to install the G36 on the PC.
Insert the G36 CD into your PC.
Power on the G36 and connect the USB cable to a spare port on your computer. Windows will detect the new hardware automatically and the Add New Hardware Wizard will be displayed:

If Windows prompts you to connect to the Internet to locate a driver, select No, not this time and click Next.

Select the option to Install the software automatically (Recommended) and click Next

If you receive a warning that the driver file has not been approved by Microsoft, select the option to Continue Anyway

Once the hardware wizard has completed, click Finish.
You will need to run through this process twice.
The G36 has now been installed on the PC. To connect to it, you will need to create a connection.
Creating the Network Connection
Open the Control Panel, double click the Network Connections icon.
Select the option to Create a new connection. The New Connection Wizard will be displayed, click Next.
Select the option to Connect to the Internet and click Next
Select the option to Set up my connection manually and click Next
Select the option to Connect using a dial-up modem and click Next

Select the Ericsson G3x Fixed Wireless Terminal Modem and click Next
Enter a name for the Internet connection, such as ‘G36 Configuration’ and click Next
In the Phone Number field, enter *98*06# and click Next
Leave the Username and Password fields blank. Click Next
Click Finish
The connection has been created. To initiate the connection, simply double click the icon.
To configure the G36, open a web browser and enter http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar.
Insert your 3G-enabled SIM card into the W25 and power on the unit.
Connect the W25 to your PC via the Ethernet cable provided.
Launch a web browser and connect to the IP address of the unit, by default it is http://192.168.1.1
The following window will be displayed:

Enter ‘user’ for both username and password and click Login. The following window will be displayed:

Click on the Configuration Wizard button. The following window will be displayed:

If your SIM card requires a PIN code, you will be prompted to enter it here. Click Next. The following window will be displayed:

Enter the APN (Access Point Name) for your network provider, note these should not differ for 2G and 3G service unless specifically required by your provider:
Vodafone - internet
Orange - orangeinternet
O2 - mobile.o2.co.uk
T-Mobile - general.t-mobile.uk
Three - three.co.uk
Click Next. The following window will be displayed:

Enter the username and password required by your network provider:
Vodafone - ‘web’ for both
Orange - leave blank
O2 - ‘web’ for both
T-Mobile - leave blank
Three - leave blank
Click Next, the following window will be displayed:

Specify whether you want to enable the wireless LAN functionality of the unit. Click Next. If you chose to enable WLAN, the following window will be displayed:

Specify your region and click Next. The following window will be displayed:

Specify the radio channel you wish the wireless LAN to operate on. Click Next. The following window will be displayed:

Specify the name of the wireless network you wish to use, and whether you wish the network name to be broadcast. Click Next. The following window will be displayed:

Specify the authentication mechanism you wish the wireless network to use, if any. Click Next. If you chose the option to use encryption, you will be prompted to specify your desired keys. Click Next.
You will be prompted to review your settings. Click Finish.
Your device is now ready to connect to the Internet.
The G36 supports both GPRS and 3G data connections. To use the G36 for data, you must first have the relevant service activated on the SIM card by your network provider.
Installing the G36 as a modem
Download the Vista-specific drivers from HERE
Save the ZIP file to the Vista and PC and extract the contents.
Connect the G36 to the PC. Windows will detect the new hardware automatically:

Select the option to Locate and install driver software. Windows will not be able to locate the driver automatically:

Select the option to Show other options:

Select the option to Browse my computer:

Browse to the folder where you extracted the contents of the ZIP file you downloaded. Windows will then install the correct driver for the new hardware:

You will need to run through this procedure a second time as the G3x will be recognised by Windows as two pieces of hardware, follow the same procedure.
Once complete, you can verify that the new hardware is installed correctly by launching the Device Manager (Control Panel --> System --> Hardware), you should see 2 entries for the Ericsson device:

If you are not prompted to install the second piece of hardware, or you can see the device listed in the Device Manager with an exclamation mark on it, right click on the entry for the device and select the option to Update Driver. Then follow the above procedure to install the correct driver manually.
Setting up the Internet Connection
Open the Control Panel and double click the Phone and Modem Options icon.
Click on the Modems tab. Select the Ericsson G3x Fixed Wireless Terminal Modem and click Properties.
Click on the Advanced tab:
In the Extra initialization commands field enter the relevant settings for your network provider:

Your Internet connection has been created. To initiate the connection, simply double click the icon.
Download the firmware update, which will be in ZIP format. Unzip the file once downloaded, you will have the following files:
Connect the FCT to the serial port of the PC using the Ericsson system cable. DO NOT POWER ON THE FCT, LEAVE IT TURNED OFF
Launch the bfloader application by double clicking the file ‘bfloader.exe’, you should see the following window:

Leave all of the settings at their default values.
Make sure that the COM port selected is the port that the FCT is connected to.
Click on the Advanced button, the following will be displayed:

Click on the Browse button to select the binary file, choose the limaoloadvxxx.bin file you unzipped earlier.
Click OK
Click on the Browse button back in the main window and choose the PV_xxxxxxxx.cla file
Click on Start, the software will say ‘waiting for board reset’. Now connect the power to the FCT, the software will now begin the upgrade procedure. The Start button will now read Stop while the upgrade procedure is underway.
The upgrade procedure takes about 15 minutes, you will know when it has finished as the Start button will change from Stop back to Start again.
