By default, the Digicom 2G GSM Fax fixed cellular terminal (FCT) unit is configured to allow only fax calls. Although the unit is capable of handling both voice and fax functionality, the voice element must be enabled manually.
To do this, connect an analogue phone to the unit via one of the RJ-11 connector ports.
On the phone, lift the receiver and enter a code of *1234#
Ensure that you hear two long beeps confirming that the feature has been enabled.
Your unit is now configured for voice calls.
Once fax mode has been enabled, the unit needs to “know” each time you dial a number, whether the call is to be a voice call or a fax call. To send a fax, you need to add a “#” symbol before the number to be dialled. This sets the unit to fax mode.
If the unit is to be used in fax only mode (ie no voice calls will be placed over the unit), then you can force fax only mode by entering the code #1234# from a connected handset. Once this mode is enabled, then faxes can be sent by dialling the number without the “#” prefix.
