Configure the TCP/IP settings of the ethernet connection on your PC or laptop to “Obtain an IP address automatically”:

Connect the Digi ConnectPort to your PC via the crossover cable provided.
Insert the CD into your PC. The installation wizard should launch automatically. If it does not, type “D:\start.exe” in the Run dialogue on the Start menu, where D is the letter of the CD drive on the PC. The following window will be displayed:

Select Install in the Hardware section, the following window will be displayed:

Select Launch Wizard. The following window will be displayed:

Click Next. The wizard will detect your ConnectPort automatically, the following window will be displayed:

Select your device and click Next. The following window will be displayed:

Enter the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway settings you wish the ConnectPort to use. Click Next. The following window will be displayed:

Click Next, the following window will be displayed:

Review your installation choices and click Next, the following window will be displayed:

The configuration settings will be saved to the ConnectPort.
NOTE – you may receive an error message that the parameters could not be saved to the unit. In which case reconfigure the IP settings of the Ethernet connection on the PC so that communication is possible with the IP address that has been assigned to the ConnectPort. Set the default gateway to the IP address of the ConnectPort.
If configuration is successful, the following window will be displayed:

Click Finish.
The web interface for the unit will be displayed automatically. If it is not, open a web browser and enter the IP address you assigned to the unit, the following window will be displayed:

Select Mobile, the following window will be displayed:

From the Service Provider drop-down menu, select European Providers.
In the Service Plan field, enter the APN for your cellular service provider:
Vodafone internet Orange orangeinternet O2 mobile.o2.co.uk T-Mobile general.t-mobile.uk
In the Username and Password fields enter the details for your provider:
Vodafone “web” for both Orange leave blank O2 “web” for both T-Mobile leave blank
Click Apply once all of the settings have been entered.
Select Connections, the following window will be displayed:

Once you are assigned an IP address by your cellular provider, as shown above, you will be able to connect to the Internet. Connection is automatic – simply open another web browser window and attempt to connect to an external web site.
Log into the ConnectPort’s web interface.
Browse to Configuration --> Network --> IP Forwarding Settings:

Ensure that the option to Enable IP Routing (Forwarding) is ticked.
Tick the option to Enable Network Address Translation (NAT) and select mobile(0) as the public interface.
Add a new rule completing the protocol, port and internal IP address fields as required.
Once the rule has been added, click the Apply button.
Insert your 3G-enabled SIM card into the router
Configure your PC with an IP address in the form 192.168.0.x, subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Connect the router to your PC via the Ethernet cable supplied.
Open a web browser and connect to http://192.168.0.99. The following window will be displayed:

The default login details are ‘username’ and ‘password’.
Once logged in, the following window will be displayed:

Within the left-hand navigation pane, browse to Configure → GPRS Module → SIM1. The following window will be displayed:

In the APN field, enter the relevant APN for your network provider:
Vodafone internet Orange orangeinternet O2 mobile.o2.co.uk T-Mobile general.t-mobile.uk Three three.co.uk
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click OK

Click Save to Flash and then Save All. Once the new settings have been successfully saved the following window will be displayed:

Click OK.
Browse to Configure → PPP → PPP 0 – 4 → PPP 0 → Standard. The following window will be displayed:

Enter a name for the connection. In the Username and Password fields enter the relevant details for your network provider:
Vodafone ‘web’ for both Orange leave blank O2 ‘web’ for both T-Mobile leave blank Three leave blank
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click OK. Click Save to Flash and then Save All.
Once the settings have been successfully saved your device has now been configured for Internet access.
Insert the SIM into the Digi unit and power on.
Connect to the Digi via Ethernet and within the browser on the connected PC browse to the default IP address of 192.168.1.1, the web admin interface will be displayed (the default username and password is “username” and “password”):

To adjust the default login details, browse to Configuration – Security → Users → Users 0-9 → User 1:

To adjust the LAN IP address of the unit, browse to Configuration – Network → Interfaces → Ethernet → ETH0:

And complete the fields as required.
NOTE - the Gateway IP address should be set to itself (ie the IP address and Gateway address should be the same. If name lookup is required on the LAN interface of the Digi then DNS should be set to your internal DNS servers.
To configure the 3G connection, browse to Configuration – Network → Interfaces → Mobile:

Enter in an APN of “wirelesslogic-hsdpa.co.uk” (if wireless-logic are providing your public IP service). Complete the username and password fields as required by your provider.
Click Apply and then select the option to Save the configuration.
To verify that the Digi is connected to the 3G network and the public IP address has been correctly assigned, type in http://(external_IP_address) in a browser on the Internet, the Digi’s admin login page will be displayed.
To configure the port forwarding, browse to Configuration – Network → IP Routing/Forwarding → IP Forwarding / Static NAT Mappings:

Add entries for the ports or port ranges that you need to forward.
NOTE – this internal client “behind the Digi” will need to have its default gateway set to the internal IP address of the Digi unit, or a static route should be added on the client device to route packets for the IP address you are connecting from via this internal address.
Click Apply and Save when finished.
