Troubleshooting Fixed Cellular Terminals

Fixed Cellular Terminals (FCTs), are devices typically used with private telephone systems for least-cost routing purposes. Essentially a mobile phone, these devices can be connected to a trunk port on a PBX to route calls made from desk extensions to mobile numbers over the cellular network rather than via the landline provider, a mobile-to-mobile call being cheaper than a landline-to-mobile call.

Digicom 2G GSM FCT

Configuring the Digicom 2G GSM fax unit for voice calls

By default, the Digicom 2G GSM Fax fixed cellular terminal (FCT) unit is configured to allow only fax calls. Although the unit is capable of handling both voice and fax functionality, the voice element must be enabled manually.

To do this, connect an analogue phone to the unit via one of the RJ-11 connector ports.
On the phone, lift the receiver and enter a code of *1234#
Ensure that you hear two long beeps confirming that the feature has been enabled.

Your unit is now configured for voice calls.

Digicom 2G GSM Fax Gateway

Digicom are an Italian manufacturer specialising in Fixed Cellular Terminals (FCTs), providing analogue line functionality in a GSM module for least cost routing (LCR) purposes, or for use in areas where traditional fixed line technology may not be possible.

Digicom 2G GSM Fax Gateway

Taking a SIM card like a normal mobile phone, the Digicom unit can be connected to an analogue phone as well as an analogue fax machine, perfect for the temporary office (Portakabin) or remote retreat.
