The GlobeSurfer III Plus is the successor to the GlobeSurfer III, providing high-speed cellular access to the Internet via Ethernet or WiFi as well as providing file and printer server capability, firewall, VPN and port forwarding features.
To configure the unit for Internet access, insert your SIM card into the unit and power it on.
Connect a PC to the unit via Ethernet, open a web browser and connect to the unit's default IP address of http://192.168.1.1
If this is the first time you have connected to the unit, you will need to run through the initial setup wizard and the following screen will be displayed:

Select your desired language and click Next:

Enter in a password for the default administrator account and click Next:

Select your desired time zone and click Next:

Select the desired telephony standard the unit should use for its analogue telephony connection - if you are not using this feature or are not sure what to select, just leave the setting at the default option and click Next:

On this screen, in the Access Point Name field, enter in the relevant APN for your cellular network provider, in the UK these settings are as follows:
Specify whether you want to initiate the connection manually, or whether the unit should always connect automatically. click Next:

Specify whether the WiFi feature should be enabled, and if so what name the wireless network should have. Click Next:

Select your desired authentication mechanism for the WiFi network. By default this will be set to "Authentication Only" which will grant access to clients based on their MAC address, if you prefer to require a password, change the authentication type to either WEP or WPA and enter in the desire password clients should use. Click Next:

Select a firewall policy to use, this can be amended later so at this stage can be left at the default setting if you are unsure. Click Next:

Review your configuration selections and click Finish to complete the wizard. You will be taken to the main home screen:

At this stage you can initiate the connection to the Internet by clicking the Connect button. If you wish to edit the properties of the Internet connection further, select the option to Go to Advanced Mode.
Click on the tab for System.
Select the sub-tab for Network Connections. Select the properties for the WAN Cellular Connection, the following screen will be displayed:

Here you can further configure the properties of the connection if required. Don't change these settings unless specifically instructed to by your operator. Most operators in the UK no longer require a username and password, but should you be unable to connect enter the following:
Save the changes and return to the home screen. To initiate the connection to the Internet click the Connect button. If all has gone well you will be connected to the Internet after a few moments:
