The ZTE MF30 is a 2G/3G mobile wireless hotspot device, allowing you to provide wireless Internet connectivity to any WiFi-capable device in range via the device's HSPA cellular modem.
The unit can also be used as a USB modem on both Windows and Mac computers, or a combination of both operating modes.
The device's microSD card slot can be used to store all manner of documents and files, and can also be used to act as a file server for all connected clients.
Insert your SIM card into the MF30.
Connect the MF30 to an available USB port on your computer, Windows will detect the new hardware automatically and install a removable storage device:

The installer may launch automatically depending on your AutoPlay settings, if not open the drive and double click the "AutoRun.exe" file, the following window will be displayed:

Select your desired installation language and click OK:

Click Next, the required program files and drivers will be copied to the PC:

When complete, click Finish:

Windows will now detect additional hardware:

When the installation has completed, a new browser window will launch automatically and display the status of the device. The MF30 will detect the correct connection settings to use automatically based on the SIM card inserted in the device and by default will initiate a connection to the Internet automatically:

A folder will also be added to the Programs folder on the Start menu called "Mobile Hotspot" which will launch the same browser window.
The MF30 works by installing a new network adapter onto the system, which by default is assigned an IP address of 192.168.0.100 with a default gateway of 192.168.0.1
If the browser window does not display any information, try browsing manually to http://192.168.0.1 and also ensure that this network does not conflict with any other network connections that your PC might have.

To configure the MF30, open a browser window and connect to the unit's IP address (http://192.168.0.1), the following window will be displayed:

Click Login in the top right hand corner of the window to access the device settings:

The device's current status and configuration will be displayed, to run through a brief wizard to configure the unit, click on the link for Quick Setup on the left-hand side:

Click Next:

The MF30 will attempt to determine the correct cellular connection settings automatically based on the SIM card inserted in the unit. Normally you would use the settings found by the unit. Should you want to define a custom APN or enter settings manually, select the option for Manual APN - note this option will be greyed out if the unit is currently connected to the Internet. Click Next:

Enter in a name for the connection profile, this can be anything to identify the connection. In the APN field enter the Access Point Name for your mobile operator. For reference, APNs for UK operators are as follows:
Orange - orangeinternet
Vodafone Contract - internet
O2 - mobile.o2.co.uk
T-Mobile - general.t-mobile.uk
Three - three.co.uk
For additional settings, view this article - http://blog.brightpointuk.co.uk/uk-network-operator-service-settings
Click Next:

Enter in the username and password for your mobile operator service. In most cases the word "web" for both will be sufficient. Click Next:

Specify whether you want the wireless access point broadcast feature of the unit enabled and enter a name for the wireless network as it will appear to wireless clients. Click Next:

Select what method of security you want to use on the wireless connection, if desired. Click Next:

Enter a password for the wireless connection, if you selected the option to use security on the previous screen. Click Next:

A summary of selected options will be displayed, click Apply to install the settings. You will be returned back to the main screen.
The WAN Connection menu option allows you to specify whether the cellular connection to the Internet should be established automatically, manually, or when accessed:

The SMS menu item allows you to manage your text messages stored both on the device and on the SIM card:

The Phonebook menu item allows you to manage your contacts:

The microSD Card menu allows you to manage whether the contents of the SD card should be accessible via the local wireless network, or only via USB:

The Settings menu displays all available configuration options in detail. The WiFi menu displays connected wireless clients:

allows you to control the wireless mode and channels to use as well as edit the SSID information:

and adjust the wireless security settings:

and configure WPS security settings if required:

The 3G menu displays detailed information on the cellular signal being received:

allows you to switch between 2G, 3G and automatic modes:

and edit the Internet connection settings:

The Firewall menu allows you to create a MAC list, enabling you to specify those wireless clients that can connect to the unit and blocking any other client that is not explicitly defined:

Port filtering rules can also be defined, restricting access to known wireless clients.
Port forwarding rules can also be defined, so that if the SIM card in the unit has a public IP address assigned to it, incoming connections from the Internet over the cellular connection can be directed to specific hosts on the local network:

access to the MF30's configuration pages can also be enabled and disabled to external incoming connections. Responses to ICMP ping messages can also be enabled and disabled:

The Advanced menu displays information about the software version on the unit:

allows you to change the default administrator password:

allows you to restore the unit to factory default settings:

enable or disable a PIN code on the SIM card inserted in the unit:

and finally edit the network details used by the device - it is here that you would change the default 192.168.0.x network

Hello. The FTP server is online. If you are not able to click on the link from your browser, paste ftp://ca:welcome@ftp.brightpointuk.co.uk/Technical%20Support/ZTE/MF30/Wi... (right click on the link and copy if it appears shortened) into Windows Explorer or a dedicated FTP client. You may also need to check whether any personal or corporate firewall application is blocking FTP access.
