This article details how to install the Proximity Sensor Calibration Patch for the ZTE Skate. The patch itself is available to download HERE.
Connect the device to a PC using a MicroUSB cable and allow the drivers to automatically install.
Drop down the notification bar from the top of the device and click on ‘USB Connected’:

Click the button ‘Turn on USB storage’. This will add the MicroSD card inside the device as a removable disk.

Open up My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista/Windows 7) and double-click on the removable disk:

Copy and paste the patch file ‘ProximietySensorClib’ into this folder. This file will now be saved onto the MicroSD card and it is safe to disconnect the unit from the MicroUSB cable.

Open the app menu and go to ‘Settings’.
Click on ‘Applications’.
Make sure that the ‘Unknown sources’ box is checked.

Go back to the applications menu and open ‘Filer’
The file should show on the main page of the filer. Tap on it and follow all prompts to install it.

Go to the applications menu and find the calibration tool, and tap on it to launch it.
Click on the ‘Calibrate’ button.

After a short time a box should pop up saying ‘Proximity calibration success’. Tap ok to close it.
The process should now be completed (it may be necessary to power off the device and power it back on before the changes take effect). It will not need to be repeated in the event of a factory reset being performed on the unit.
