Android Gingerbread

The RAZR is Motorola's ultra-thin Android-powered Smartphone that takes its name from the iconic phone released back in 2004.
Despite its 7.1mm width, the RAZR is still packed with powerful hardware, the phone's wedge-shape only being required to house a headphone jack, microUSB and HDMI connectors and 8MP 1080p HD camera at the top end, all protected by a Gorilla Glass 4.3" qHD Super AMOLED screen, Kevlar rear casing and splashguard coating.
The below video provides an overview of the phone's design and key features.

Running Android 2.3.5 "Gingerbread", the RAZR features Motorola's own skin overlaid on top of the operating system, providing a number of useful Internet-enabled widgets and hardware controls in addition to the usual wide range of customsation options that the Android platform offers allowing you to place application shortcuts, bookmarks, contacts and more anywhere you like on the device's 5 homescreens for ease of access and at-a-glance access to messages and social networking updates.

The list of applications that are preinstalled on the RAZR by default is as follows:
Applications can be organised into groups for ease of access and better organisation if desired:

The RAZR supports a wide range of email accounts, with the settings for common POP and IMAP email providers already built-in, making the process of adding a consumer email account a matter of simply entering your email address and password.
Microsoft Exchange-based email accounts are also naturally supported, providing push-based updates of mail, contacts and calendar information with your company's Exchange server - be it local or hosted.

All mailbox folders are available. Rules can also be configured to only download email attachments over a WiFi connection to save on mobile data charges:

Your out of office status and reply message can be set directly from the device, both to internal and external users (if running Exchange 2007 or later):

If running Exchange 2007 or later, email attachments can also be forwarded from the device without the ned to first download it, as with other devices:

When composing a new email message, suggestions from the Global Address List will be displayed automatically as you begin to type in the recipient's name or email address:

MotoCAST is a free application from Motorola that allows you to access files and folders on your home or work PC, stream photos and videos as well as music, remotely - both Windows and Mac: provided that the PC is powered on and connected to the Internet.
You need to sign up for an account with the MotoCAST service, but registration is free and only requires an email address and password. The PC client software can be downloaded from www.mymotocast.com

Once installed, you can specify which folders on the PC you want to grant remote access to:

As well as enter a name for the PC to identify it should you choose to install MotoCAST on more than one machine

On the RAZR itself, launch the Files file manager application and select the option to browse MotoCast computers and select the PC you wish to connect to:

The shared content on the PC will then be displayed:

Another feature of the RAZR is the ability to print over WiFi to a supported printer. This feature can work directly to a WiFi-capable printer by IP address, provided that it is connected to the same wireless access point as the RAZR, or can query the local network for shared printers. A free utility is also available for Windows PCs that allows any printer installed on that PC to be shared via WiFi and made accessible to the RAZR:

Once a printer has been configured, you can then print from your Documents, Pictures, Emails, Contacts and more

The Smart Actions feature on the RAZR allows you to define rules which govern application and hardware behaviour based on time, physical location, battery level and more - enabling you to automate common tasks you perform on the phone, saving you time and saving your device's battery.
For example, you may want to launch the music player when you are at the gym, you may want to silence the ringer when you are in the office, etc

The below video provides an overview of the new feature:
The RAZR can be used both as a USB modem on Windows PCs, allowing you to share the device's connection to the Internet, but also as a portable wifi hotspot, allowing you to connect up to 5 WiFi-capable devices simultaneously

The Quickoffice suite, loaded on the RAZR as standard, allows you to view, edit and create Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents as well as view PDF files:

The Task Manager allows you to see what applications are running on the device and how much system resource they are consuming, and close down any apps that aren't needed:

The Data Meter allows you to view how much data you have sent and received from the device, allowing you keep track of mobile cost charges, and the Data Saver allows you to configure specific "data hungry" applications to only connect via an available WiFi connection
