The applications that come preinstalled on the Galaxy Note are as follows:

The Galaxy Note features 7 homescreens, accessed by swiping the left and right, each screen capable of hosting a number of application shortcuts, bookmarks, contacts, Internet-enabled widgets, social feeds, music, weather and more

Drop the apps and get direct access to your content through Samsung’s new personalised UX, a magazine style layout that selects contents that you use the most, your gallery, music, videos, SNS, emails, notes, games and weather, then displays them on your main screen. This live content ecosystem can be customised to your taste and provides easy access to your contents. Don’t search for content, live it!
Widgets can be added and rearranged quickly and easily, allowing you to customise your device to how you want.

Hardware controls can be accessed quickly and easily by swiping down from the top of the screen from any point, providing instant control over your device's operation:

Readers Hub
Leave the bookshelf at home and carry your Galaxy Note in your hand. Readers Hub is a great place to flip through your library of classics & best sellers or browse through more than two million books to choose from. On top of that, you will have access to more than 2500 magazines in 20 languages and 2000 of newspapers in 47 languages at your fingertips. Crisp, sharp text makes reading a pleasure and your experience will be easier to manage with magnification, text only and page views (for magazine and newspapers), audio access (for newspapers), one touch sharing via email (for magazines), and more features. Believe in books, but look beyond paper.

Social Hub
Organise and synchronise better all in your online contacts through Social Hub. Streamline your email, SMS, IM and SNS information into one unified box, and interact faster with more people in the way you want to.
Music Hub
Keep your music close, while accessing the world of 13 million songs. Samsung’s Music Hub, powered by 7digital, provides an intuitive playback system while you search, discover, preview, purchase and download tracks on the go. The app will also provide you with the viewing experience for rich information, with access to all the artist bios, discographies and reviews you desire. Get recommendations on hot and new albums and add to the excitement with the virtual 5.1 channel sound.

The Galaxy Note supports Exchange ActiveSync out of the box, allowing you to synchronise email, contacts, calendar and tasks with your Microsoft Exchange server, or hosted Exchange service.

Setting up an account is simply a matter of entering in your email address and password, should your Exchange server be set up to support autodiscovery, the remaining settings will be configured automatically. If not, you will need to supply your username, mail server address and domain, all of which can be obtained from your IT department.
As a rule of thumb your username and password and domain will be the same as that used to access your PC if you have one, and the server address is usually the same address as that used to access webmail via your Internet browser, in the form "mail.company.com"

Should your Exchange server has specific device usage policies applied, such as requiring the use of a lock password on devices, you will be prompted to accept these settings:

You can select which mailbox information you wish to sync (mail, contacts, calendar and tasks), can specify how often you want the device to synchronise, or whether you want updates pushed to you as they arrive, and how much information you want to synchronise:

You can optionally set up peak and off-peak synchronisation schedules, so your device can push updates to you during the working day, but only synchronise on a schedule, or manually, during the evening and weekends:

Multiple email accounts can be configured, and optionally displayed in a single, unified Inbox.
All mailbox folders can be accessed:

Contacts from your global address list will be displayed as you begin to compose a new email message:

Out of office settings and messages can also be set from the device:

The Galaxy Note also supports email encryption:

The Galaxy Note can be used as a portable wireless 3G hotspot, allowing you to connect your wifi-enabled device and share the Note's high-speed connection to the Internet

Tethering is also possible via USB on Windows. You will need to download and install the Kies software from the www.samsungapps.com web site to obtain the necessary device drivers but once installed, connecting the Galaxy Note and enabling tethering will install a new network adapter on your Windows PC automatically. Once the new hardware is installed your PC will automatically share the Note's Internet link:

The Galaxy Note also supports the WiFi Direct standard, allowing you to send and receive files to other WiFi Direct devices without the need for both devices to be connected to the same wireless router

DLNA is also available, allowing you to stream music, photos and videos to and from other DLNA-certified equipment such as PCs and televisions

The Kies Air feature of the Galaxy Note allows you to manage all aspects of your device from your PC, provided they are both connected to the same wifi network, directly from the PC web browser

The Galaxy Note comes with Polaris Office preinstalled, which provides read, edit and create ability for Microsoft Office-compatible documents, spreadsheets and presentations:

The Mini Diary application allows you to create a journal, with text notes, images and GPS coordinates all linked into entries

The S Memo application allows you to annotate images and documents using the stylus

The My Files application allows you to view and manage the contents of your device and microSD storage

The Samsung Apps and Samsung Hub features provide alternatives to the Android Market, with special offers on apps, games and more

The Storage Manager allows you to keep control of your device's resources, by monitoring memory usage, available storage and running applications

The Power Saver feature allows you to automatically disable certain hardware and software features when the battery reaches a certain level, to further prolong the operation of your device

The Video Maker application allows you to combine videos, photos and music to create your own personalised movie

The Photo Editor tool allows you to capture and edit your photos, applying all manner of styles and effects, which you can then share with others

The Crayon Physics game provides fun and learning with the stylus
