If you were lucky enough to get an HTC Desire Z or Desire HD this year, you may have read through the documentation but still be wondering just what you can do with your new toy. The blog has a number of articles you may find useful to get the most out HTC's latest creations.
The HTC Sync software that ships on the SD card with the device enables the synchronisation of music, video and images with your Windows desktop PC as well as documents and bookmarks, not to mention contacts and calendar information with Microsoft Outlook.
Once the HTC Sync software is installed, you can also optionally decide to use your device as a 3G modem via USB from your PC: simply connect the device via USB and select the option to use "USB Tethering".
Alternatively, you can also use your PC's connection to the Internet from your Android device by enabling "pass-through mode", ideal for downloading apps and updates from the Android Market if you don't have access to WiFi and don't want to eat into your mobile data allowance - http://blog.brightpointuk.co.uk/using-internet-passthrough-mode-htc-desi...
Of course, besides using your Android device as a USB modem, you can also use it as a 3G wireless access point from any WiFi-capable device - http://blog.brightpointuk.co.uk/use-htc-desire-portable-wifi-hotspot
The HTCSense.com web service allows you to manage your device remotely from any web browser, enabling you to remotely lock, wipe and locate your device via GPS as well as synchronising contacts, calendar and SMS message data.
Both the Desire Z and the Desire HD feature built-in support for Microsoft Exchange email synchronisation, enabling access to multiple corporate email, contacts and calendar folders.
Using the devices' DLNA capability, it is possible to stream media from your device wirelessly to a PC running Windows Media Player 11 or later, or suitable audio-visual equipment - http://blog.brightpointuk.co.uk/sharing-media-dlna-htc-desire-z-and-desi...
Or also from a Mac - http://blog.brightpointuk.co.uk/sharing-media-dlna-mac-os-x-htc-desire-h...
You could optionally purchase the additional HTC Media Link receiver to DLNA enable any HDMI-capable television.
You can read a more detailed review of the Desire Z here - http://blog.brightpointuk.co.uk/introducing-htc-desire-z
