ZTE Tureis
Android Gingerbread

ZTE have posted two tools to their UK support web site (http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/endata/mobile/UK/) providing the ability to check for and install software updates for the Skate, the Libra and the Tureis, from your Windows PC via USB.
Once you have downloaded and installed the tool, a new folder will be added to the Windows Start menu called "Handset software update tool":

NOTE - installing software updates onto your ZTE Android device will erase ALL user data and restore the unit to factory default condition, so it is recommended that you backup your device first. This includes third party applications.
In order to update the Android phone, the device must first be put into bootloader mode. This is done by powering the device off fully, then powering it back on whilst holding down the VOLUME DOWN key on the side of the unit.
Launch the Handset software update tool from the Start menu, the following window will be displayed:

Ensure that the application is able to use your connection to the Internet. If you receive an error, you may need to define Proxy Server information, consult your IT department if you are unsure.
To enter Proxy information, right click on the System Tray icon and select "Proxy Setting":

Then enter the required information:

The Android device can now be connected to the PC via the supplied USB cable. The tool will then check for available software updates.
The tool can be used to install updated versions of the device software, or to reinstall the same software version to recover from issues experienced with the unit:

Click Upgrade to begin the installation process. The tool will first download the required software image:

and then begin the installation. Once the update has completed, disconnect the phone from the PC and remove and reinsert the battery to reboot it.
